King's and Lord Treasurer's Remembrancer (KLTR)

The KLTR (Kings’s and Lord Treasurer’s Remembrancer) is the Crown's representative in Scotland. The Crown has a right to Treasure Trove and is exercised in Scotland by the KLTR. There is no statutory definition of Treasure Trove, but it may be described as a "portable antiquity" - and can cover virtually anything (stone, wood, metal, woven material) which has been taken out of the ground and which is thought, on the basis of its age or rarity, worth preserving for the nation.

TTU has delegated authority from the King’s and Lord Treasurer’s Remembrancer (KLTR) to decide whether an object should be claimed or not. For more information on the KLTR, please visit www.kltr.gov.uk
